Gore-Tex
Feature
Simms, truly a leader in innovation, has continued to make
living on the water and living in your waders a comfortable
possibility. Fifteen years ago, Simms introduced the first
breathable wader. Now, Simms has introduced waders of the
same tradition but of the likes that will amaze. Working in
conjunction with the new Gore-Tex Pro Shell, Simms has reengineered
their wader line-up. The Pro Shell is built with the Gore
Micro Grid Woven Backer which enhances breathability and decreases
weight by 10%. The combination of these two new technologies
results in improvements in tear strength and internal abrasion,
and the wearer of these fine waders will notice less resistance
in movement.
As
our guides will testify, these waders defy the limits of normal
waders! And we aren’t just paying lip service to Simms.
Our guides put these waders through hell and the Simms waders
have aced the test. How do we know Simms make the best waders
on the market? Our guides’ stories are testament:
We would venture to say that Mark Engler spent more time in
these waders than he did any other article of clothing he
owns. Mark wears his G3 waders 23 hours a day. He made them
a part of his regular wardrobe, replacing his torn blue jeans
and tennis shoes. Mark not only guided over 100 days on our
area rivers and streams, but duck hunted over 100 days as
well. Given the same abuse Mark could have gone through maybe
3 or 4 pairs of any other wader on the market.
Josh
Grounds has been known to frequent local bars and restaurants
in his Simms Waders. Because they are completely breathable
and comfortable, he seldom remembers he has them on. Josh
doesn't wait until the river to change into his waders. He
can be found early mornings leaving footprints in the local
markets, feverishly searching for lunch fixins and his morning
Coca-Cola. 150+ days with clients on the San Juan, Animas,
Dolores, and high mountain creeks plus an additional 150+
days fishing on his own, have pushed the waders to their limits.

Joe
Delling takes care of his Simms G3 waders, (he sometimes hangs
them on the porch to dry) and claims to have somewhere in
the neighborhood of 327 days of use out of them. He refuses
to let go of them and get a new pair. "They're just getting
broken in" says Joe. He, like Mark and Josh, spends more
time on the water than any one person should really be allowed
to. The fact that each one of these guides has been able to
have a pair of waders last throughout an entire season is
an amazing feat in itself.
Here
are some specifics about new Simms waders that feature the
Gore-Tex Pro Shell:
The G4 Guide Wader is the most durable, breathable wader on
the market, featuring a YKK? Aquaseal? zipper that makes getting
in and out of these waders a cinch. The G4 will fit you better
than you’ve ever imagined, with a breathable mesh suspender
and fleece-lined pockets and lots of extras that will serve
the dedicated guide or fisherman well.
The Guide line-up also features the upgraded G3, their best-selling
wader. The five-layer fabric stands up to hard use and the
new construction increases mobility, resulting in a wader
that will move with you when you need to and withstand willows,
thistles, and fences.
Simms
designs their waders with the die-hard in mind, but makes
waders for every type of fisherman. Come into the shop, check
out our Simms line, and try a pair on. You won’t be
disappointed, and once you stand in the water with a pair
on, you will be elated.
